The Fall of Saigon
By: Gabby D.
Even after the Vietnam War had ended in 1973, conflict between the North and South Vietnam continued. The cease-fire agreement, which prevented fighting temporarily, was broken when North Vietnam invaded the South. The South looked to the United States for help, but the U.S only agreed to send economic aid, not military. General Duong Van Minh, the South Vietnamese president, declared South Vietnam's surrender saying, "We are here to hand over to you the power in order to avoid bloodshed". This surrender concluded the fall of Saigon.
